Ribera Sacra DO, Galicia
Sustainable Farming
Winemaker: Julio Ponce

Ribera Sacra is located in the south of the province of Lugo in the north of the Ourense province of Galicia.

Pazo da Maga is the brain-child and concept of Antonio Lombardia. Antonio has the Ribera Sacra running through his veins. The region is small and the terrain is mainly steep hills running down to the river.

The soils are tight with granite and shale on top of clay. The climate is Atlantic but probably more on Continental in many respects.

Production is low yielding and the region has a red majority production mainly from Mencia. Besides the ‘Demo’ Mencia Antonio vineyards also produce tiny amounts of an Albarinio and Godello, which are gently blended to preserve delicate notes. A purely textural wine, and utterly delicious, It captures the freshness and uniqueness of this special region.
